Computex reveal has rumoured that the ASUS EEE PC will no longer be a clamshell device. It might be turned into a non-clamshell touch only PC.
Speaking exclusively to Current.com.au, Asus Australia national retail manager, Emmanuele Silanesu, said the company’s Eee PC division was “obviously looking at other form factors rather than just a clamshell”.
ASUS Australia national retail manager, Emmanuele Silanesu, made a comment saying that EEE PC designers were looking to change the form factor.
While he could not give further details, Silanesu said the new model would use a touchscreen and hinted it could see the light at Taipei’s Computex show, which begins 3 June. The original Eee PC 700 was unveiled at the show last year.
No further details were mentioned. However, we may see an unveil as soon as June 3rd at Taipei’s Computex show. The same place where last years EEE PC was revealed.
Rumors of a re-brand were also mentioned. This indicates that the new EEE PC might not be called an EEE or resemble similar models.
Here in Australia, the 900 series model is available. No one knows when the new 901 model will be released into the Aussie market.
